Undergraduate Programs

The Ethnic Studies Department offers an Ethnic Studies interdepartmental Liberal Arts Major as well as a Minor in Ethnic Studies. In these programs, students will gain a broad understanding of the historical and contemporary experiences of four major racialized groups in the United States: Asian American, African American, Native American and Chicana(o)/ Latina(o), as well as other national and international ethnic groups.

All undergraduate Ethnic Studies students are required to take three core courses: Introduction to Ethnic Studies (ETST100), Race Formations in the U.S. (ETST404) or Ethnicity, Class and Gender (ETST405), and Ethnic Studies Research Methods and Writing (ETST493). In addition, students must take one elective course from each of the four major groups.
